Exotic Locales Represented at A World of Tastes Events This Summer at The Merion

Experience the tastes of Mexico, Italy, France and Asia without having to leave Chicago’s Northshore area. These are just a sample of the exotic locales that will have been represented at the weekly A World of Tastes events taking place this summer at The Merion. The culinary adventures will allow area residents to experience some of the world’s greatest destinations through individual evenings of new tastes and live entertainment.

Residents of The Merion are educated, well traveled, and accustomed to eating in the best restaurants. “They know about fine dining and have very high expectations,” said The Merion’s Chef Oscar Leon. “That’s a good thing because we’re always challenged and always deliver the very best.”

The formidable duo of Chef Oscar and dining services director Alberto Riquel work together to serve up the finest fareā€¦. much like you’d expect at a five-star restaurant. Chef Oscar, who was trained at the Chicago Culinary Institute and began his culinary career at The Ritz Carlton focuses on offering great variety, visual appeal, sensational flavors and healthy choices featuring fresh and local produce.

Alberto, who has spent many years in fine dining establishments in Chicago’s Northshore area with the past 15 years in private country clubs, is a master at providing impeccable service.

Chef Oscar said that guests at restaurants or hotels are transient, whereas his clientele at The Merion is comprised of long-term residents who eat most of their meals in The Merion’s various on-site dining venues. This requires his team to remain creative and consistently excellent.

“The food is wonderful, the prices are reasonable and the services is great. That’s the combination the residents are looking for, and it’s what we deliver,” said Alberto. “We are excited that we have the opportunity to share our cuisine with residents throughout the Evanston community.”

A World of Tastes will feature French cuisine on June 1, Asian fare on June 8, Texan Favorites on June 15, and its Maine Seafood Fest on June 29. The dinners are open to the public. For additional information or to RSVP, call 847-864-6400.
