May is Older Americans Month. It is also National Physical Fitness & Sports Month, and the 25th marks the 23rd annual National Senior Health and Fitness Day. This program was developed with the goal to help keep older Americans healthy and fit through a variety of local health and fitness related activities in communities around the nation.
Always set for the last Wednesday in May, National Senior Health & Fitness Day is the nation’s largest annual health promotion event for older adults, providing the motivation to get out and get going. This year’s theme: ‘Improve Your Health for a Better Self!’ is estimated to impact around 100,000 older adults in activities including fitness walks, low-impact exercises, health screenings, health information workshops, and much more.
